  1. Ideas For Kids Bedroom Curtains

    Friday, 21 September 2012

Making your child’s bedroom a welcoming and comfortable place is of the utmost importance, as every parent knows the difficulty that can come with trying to get their children to go to bed and to sleep with plenty of time to get a good nights sleep.

Allowing your child to have some input into the way their room is decorated can be a big help, as it will mean they are definitely happy with how the room looks, and if you can add a few other touches to complete the room then even better. Give your child a few ideas to get them started off - perhaps your little girl is a fan of fairytales and a fairy princess room would be the perfect way to get them to fall in love with their bedroom and want to sleep there. Or perhaps your little boy has a fascination with pirates - what could be better than making their room into their own pirate ship, with them as the captain! Allow your child to have their own input, within reason, and you should be able to come up with something they’ll love.

Curtains are as important a part of your child’s room as their bed, as proper kids bedroom curtains will make the room dark and comfortable enough that they will always get a good nights sleep. You will want curtains which keep all of the light out at night, so children are not distracted by cars outside or streetlights , but you will also want the curtains to be breathable so that the room doesn’t get too warm on summer evenings. You can buy some great, lightweight blackout blinds for almost nothing, so why not team these with some curtains that match your child’s room. You could either go with curtains which are already printed with characters or designs that match your child’s room, or do something a little more special and pick up some plain curtains and some fabric paints or pens to give you and your child an activity one evening or weekend, so that they can design their own curtains just as they would want them.

Pick curtains which will be thick enough to keep our drafts in the winter time, and some others which are more lightweight for summer. The purpose of curtains is to keep the room dark, but they can also go a long way to making the room as comfortable as possible whatever the weather. Browse online for some of the most up to date styles and you should easily be able to find some which match your child’s existing bed covers, or that match the theme or colour scheme of the room to perfection. Once you have the right bedding and curtains the room should really start to come together and you can be assured that your child’s bedroom will be their favourite room in the house!
